Don't violate human rights while discharging your duty - DIG Alabi tells Police
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South-West region, DIG Biodun Alabi, has charged police officers not to violate human rights while discharging their duties.
Alabi, who made the call while addressing officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, at the Ogun State Command Headquaters, Eleweran, Abeokuta during his one day work visit to the state.
According to him, human rights' abuse is one of the major factors affecting the image of Nigeria Police and therefore warned that the police authorities would deal decisively with any officer found culpable in this direction.
He insisted that officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force must be exemplary in their conducts, maintain highest level of discipline to earn the respect and support the general public in the discharge of their duties.
According to Alabi, he was in the state in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police to all DIGs to visit all the states under their supervision.
The DIG was received by the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni and other top hierarchy of the Command.
In his address, CP Alamutu said the status of Ogun State as the industrial hub of the nation and neighbours to many states and the Republic of Benin, was not without its antecedent security challenges saying that, the Command was rising up to the challenges.
The DIG, thereafter, paid a courtesy call on the Alake of Egbaland ,Oba Adedotun Gbadebo to receive his Royal blessings and intimate the Royal Father with the plan of the force to effectively police the country.
In his remarks, Oba Gbadebo thanked the Police Force for ensuring peace in the nation through effective community policing and prayed for more success in all their endeavours.
