Hensard University's VC bags Global Man Award
The Vice Chancellor of Hensard University, Toru-Orua, Professor Dileep Kumar has been honoured with the Global Man of the Year 2023 Award by the Unicaribbean Business School, Lagos for contributing and supporting the vision of quality education in many countries across the globe.
He was also recognized with an award by the Union Christian College Aluva India, for his contributions in the field of education.
In his response, Professor Kumar, said the process of selection for the award was a rigorous one that is based on the contributions of the academics in the field of education over the years. He thanked the Unicarribean business school for the recognizing his contributions just as appreciated the Union Christian College for the honour done him in this direction.
The multiple awards winning Professor who received his appointment as Vice Chancellor of Hensard University in 2023, has contributed meaningfully to educational development in Nigeria by prioritizing entrepreneurship delivered through practicals in the bid to produce a crop of graduates in Nigeria that will be prepared for the global market upon their graduation.
The Hensard University Don assured that he will harness his experience in education in driving the institution towards academic excellence.
He thanked Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Senator Representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District and Founder of Hensard University for his support in the course of his profession just as he expressed gratitude to the Management and staff of Hensard University for their supports in working hand in gloves with him to translate the dreams of the founder of the institution.
Professor Kumar therefore encouraged young Nigerians seeking admission into higher institutions to apply for Hensard University as it is poised to transform the educational landscape of the country.
He said: "The award I have received now is centenary award of a big college existing almost hundred years. The College's Management has decided to identify the best students who have passed through that campus in the past hundred years.
"It was an extreme competition, hundred years of the College's existence, so many students have passed through but I was also selected and recognized. With due consideration to my research accolades, publications and entrepreneurial abilities and participation in multiple levels as conference chair, keynote speakers. I trained faculty members in research in 24 countries… as an industrial expert. When the profile was assessed, I was invited for the competition for the award and was selected for the education category of the award.
“I thank God for the selection because, this is only possible because of His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson who selected me for the appointment as a Vice Chancellor of Hensard University, the pioneer private University in Bayelsa State. This makes me an international Vice Chancellor”, he concluded.
