The Economic and Financial Crimes  Commission (EFCC) has sought  collaboration with the media  to fight crime and criminality in the country.  Addressing members of Nigeria  Union of Journalists(NUJ), Warri Correspondents' Chapel, today, at  the ³Press Centre Warri, the Acting  Zonal  Director, Edo, Delta and Ondo States, Eff I.Okim said the fight against crime and criminality can not be left alone in the hands of the EFCC but the collaboration of all Nigerians of which the Press forms a part.

The Acting Zonal Director, EFCC, Eff I. addressing members of NUJ, Warri today.

According to him, the society would not be  comfortable for all to live if everyone folds his arms and  allow crime  and criminality  to strive. He said, as it were, many youths  now engage in crime with impunity as nobody checks them saying, many parents, instead of  discouraging their  wards who may possess some property when they are not working to have such, encourage them  thereby promoting more crime  in the society.

The Acting Zonal Director of EFCC said, it is not only those who engage in crime  and criminality that  would be arrested and prosecuted but those who aid and abeit  the crime  in the society. He said, fighting crime in the society was not going to be easy but with  the collaboration of the media and all persons, the goal of reducing crime  to the barest minimum would be achieved.

He said: " l know, fighting crime is not going to be easy but with your collaboration, it would be easy".

He said, by merely looking at the way children behave in the society today, he knows that something had gone wrong saying that, if something is not done to remedy the situation, it would not be well with Nigerians.

His words: When l watch the way  our children behave these days, l ask myself, where have we gone wrong? Where did we depart from our culture? This means, somebody is not playing his roles. We have to restore our culture for things to move well".

The Acting Zonal Director of  EFCC   therefore charged parents to warn their children to stay away from crime  and criminality or  if they are caught, will face the wrath of the law.
