Benue: Police arrests female associate of bandits with arms

A 37-year-old woman, name withheld, has been arrested by the operatives of Operation Zenda, a Joint Security Task Force in Benue State led by Superintendent, SP, Felix Nomiyugh, for being in possession of fire arms and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition. 

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested midweek around Ayati Junction in Ukum Local Government Area, of the State while allegedly hauling the arms to bandits. 

Sources in the area also alleged that the suspect was a renowned associate of a dreaded bandit tormenting that axis of the state. 

According to him, "Operation Zenda has been investigating the activities of most of them and they have been on their trail without their knowing. 

"Her arrest is another indication that members of the Zenda team are determined to intensify the fight against criminal elements tormenting Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo LGAs and indeed other parts of the state. 

"We keep encouraging our people to always cooperate with security agencies to help them put an end to the activities of the bandits tormenting the lives of the people in that area. 

"We leant that apart from the fire arm, the Task Force also recovered over 200 live ammunition of General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 117 rounds of 7.6mm ammunition from her. That is quite huge considering that it was allegely found on a woman." 

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene confirmed the arrest.
