Only media can save the country - Tompolo

High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo,  a.k.a Tompolo has called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of patriotism in order to salvage the country from endemic corrupt practices, insisting that only the media can save the nation from its woes. The Former Leader of the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, stated this in Oporoza during a chat with PEBNEWS while responding to issues relating to war against oil theft.“I want to appreciate your team, we're ready for work. I don't have any passport to travel out, so if I don't have this country, I have nowhere to call my country.“You see, all our leaders are travelling out for medical check-ups, you know, a lot of people died during the covid 19 because they have no access to travel out for standard treatments.“We have ministers for health, education and all that. But if you see our educational sector, health sector, and others, there's nothing to write home about. But they travel every day, they even send their children out of the country. When you don't have a stake in a place, even if the place is going down, you will not bother. I think Tinubu is a very nice person who has the experience to turn this country around.“The Nigeria Journalists, you're the only people who can save this country from collapsing. We will do the practical work, but you are the people to send the right message to everyone.“Yes, if you're coming to these creeks, the drivers will help you as Ijaw men, it may happen to be someone who doesn't even go to school but knows how to drive the boat. So, as you charters his boat and you're ready to pay him, he will also be ready to take you to anywhere in the creeks. Because of the level of poverty, and our people wish to survive in any way, they take them to the creeks. If not, they are not the real bunkerers.“The bunkers are there in Abuja and Lagos. Like this vessel (MT. Kali) that's here, when we arrested it, we brought in the crew members. The local worker were about seventeen on one side and seven on the other part. But if you see the key players, they're all in Lagos and Abuja.“As I said, when we talked about the local protection of this oil facility, what we're losing in the sea for oil theft is times ten of what we're getting. So if you see, the organised crime is clear, but for people to come out and say the truth, people are not willing to come out.“So I want to appeal to everybody, because if we're not careful, one day, everybody will wake up to say that we don't have country again.” He stated.
