Unknown gunmen murder medical doctor, abduct daughter in Kwara

Unknown gunmen, suspected to be assassins, have murdered the Medical Director of Dafikayo Clinic, Dr David Adefikayo at his residence Kanbi area, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State Thursday evening.It was reliably gathered that the assassin's forcefully gained entry into his residence around 8:30pm, following which he was traced to his bedroom where they also met his wife and two daughters.On sighting the gunmen, the jittery medical doctor reportedly started pleading with them to spare their lives, all to no avail.It was further gathered that the perplexed medical doctor asked the gunmen to ask for any amount of money, and take whatever they want in the house, all for them to spare his life, but the assassins also declined.The assailants, whose motives remain unclear, at press time eventually shot the medical doctor dead, in the presence of his horrified wife and children.Adding to the families anguish, the assailants reportedly abducted the youngest child of the deceased, a 16-year-old girl, before fleeing the scene. The current whereabouts of the abducted girl and the identities of the murderers remain unknown at press time.A close family source, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the horrifying incident to journalists in ilorin, expressing their shock and grief. A source said, "David was an easy going man, very good to members of the community. I couldn't fathom why anyone could come for his life and also take away the last child. This is still a mistery to everyone of us. It's indeed a very bad dream, someone should please tell me this is a dream, "he said in tears.Residents in the community were in shock over the incident, as Dr. Adefikayo was described as a respected figure who contributed significantly to local healthcare.Spokesperson of Kwara state police Command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun did not respond to several calls at press time.
