Madman Strangles WAEC Student to Death Inside Exam Hall
A suspected madman has allegedly strangled a 17-year-old student, Beke Meretighan, to death in Arogbo, Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state.PEBNEWS reports that the deceased was attacked by a mentally ill man, identified as Oke Loya while writing his Junior WAEC on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Ijaw National High School Arogbo, Ese Odo Local Government.Source said the 27-year-old suspect took shelter at the apartment of the school security during a rainstorm.The victim was alleged to have challenged the suspect and after some exchange of hot words, the victim called the suspect 'a madman'.Thereafter, the victim fled the scene and went into the classroom to write his examination.Afterwards, the suspect located the victim’s classroom, attacked during examination, and strangled the 17yrs Beke Meretighan to death.According to an eyewitness who spoke to PEBNEWS, “the incident was just like a film.”It started like a joke. The victim and other students were coming to school for their junior WAEC examination when the rain suddenly started.”They all ran to take shelter at the school security gatehouse. They met other people at the gatehouse.”This particular student challenged the suspect and asked what he was doing at the school security gatehouse.”After much exchange of hot words, he called him a madman, and other students also joined to mock the suspect.”The suspect later went to the victim’s classroom where he attacked him while he was writing his exams.”He grabbed the victim, put his head under his armpit, and strangled him to death."
