Tompolo bags daily Independent Newspaper South-South Personality award

Former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo, aka, Tompolo has bagged the South-South Personality award of Independent Newspaper.The colourful event held at Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos State on Saturday, February 18, 2023, PEBNEWS can report.Tompolo was represented by his media aide, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo who received the award of excellence on his behalf at the scene.Daily Independent Newspaper Limited Managing Director, Steve Omanufeme extols Tompolo and rebranded the award with a new name, "South South Personality of the Decade".He said, "Tompolo's award is not just for the year 2022, is for decades. He has been on this struggle and with his coming so far, we have heard about oil theft, even with all the Joint task force, we don't hear much but with him, non state factor coming in and revealing most of those things, he deserves award for what he has done so far in the past decade".Omanufeme explained that the awards are meant to stimulate people who had been doing well in their respective fields to continue to keep up their good works. He pointed out that Nigeria is in a state of quagmire but by selecting and awarding those that have done well, will help stimulate them to do more saying, Tompolo was not exceptional.Eminent Nigerians who were at the event affirmed that the engagement of High  Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo in securing  critical national assets has boost oil production output in Nigeria.Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, who is the chairman of the occasion showered Tompolo and his Security outfit, Tantita Security Services, with praises for how they have helped Nigeria's economy to grow through security outfits."You can see the discovery he has met from the way people had been stealing our common wealth, pink shoring the truck line for the supply of crude oil. And for what he has done for this country, I think an award like this is just good enough".Tompolo applauded Daily Independent newspaper for the award especially for passing through rigorous processes in selecting Tompolo as the South South Personality of the Year.Tompolo who was represented by his Spokesman, Dr.Paul Bebenimibo said, "Independent Newspaper must have gone through a rigorous process in selecting him."He didn't solicit for it, that shows that they did a thorough job in picking him and that's why he sent me to represent him to pick the award. "Let Independent Newspaper uphold the sanctity of truth, let them continue to do what they have been doing for the society so as to encourage them of their great jobs."
